HOIMA CITY — Thousands of residents endorsed PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for President in 2031 during a gathering in Hoima City this evening, ahead of the Expose the Corrupt rally.
Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, who announced the turnout, was joined by a sizeable delegation of political leaders from across Bunyoro, making the Hoima engagement more than a gathering of the city’s local structures.
Among those present was Hon. Grace Mary Mugasa, Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, alongside Hon. Ruyonga, Hon. Asinansi Nyakato and Hon. Beatrice Wembabazi, Woman MP for Hoima District.
The gathering also drew leaders from neighbouring districts, including Hon. Dr. Florence Asiimwe, Woman MP for Masindi; Hon. Jovia Katusiime, Woman MP for Kiryandongo; and Hon. Allan Atugonza, MP for Buliisa.
Their participation brought together representatives from several parts of the sub-region during an evening dedicated to the endorsement of Gen. Kainerugaba’s 2031 presidential bid.
Behind the turnout was the work of Hoima’s interim coordinators and local organising teams.
Balaam singled out Mr. Israel Manaraguha, Hon. Princess Diana, Hoima Resident City Commissioner Badiru Mugabi and Pastor Museveni for their mobilisation efforts, acknowledging the work undertaken ahead of the gathering.
He also thanked the entire district security committee and the political leaders who joined the evening’s activities.
The endorsement preceded the Expose the Corrupt rally, which formed part of Balaam’s ongoing engagements on government accountability and public service delivery in Bunyoro.
The two activities brought different issues before Hoima residents on the same evening: a public endorsement of Gen. Kainerugaba’s proposed 2031 presidential bid and an engagement on the management of public resources.
Hoima’s endorsement followed similar activities in Kiryandongo and Masindi earlier in the week, with leaders from those districts again appearing alongside Balaam in Hoima City.
For the local coordinators, the evening also brought recognition for the work undertaken before the crowds assembled, with Balaam publicly acknowledging those responsible for organising the Hoima engagement.
