NTOROKO — Ntoroko District marked Uganda’s 64th Independence Day on Friday, 9 October 2026, with the launch of an endorsement exercise for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), ahead of the 2031 presidential election.
The event brought together political leaders, PLU coordinators and residents, with Owek. Henry Basaliza, PLU Deputy Director of Mobilisation, presiding as Chief Guest.
Basaliza was accompanied by Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, PLU Rwenzori Coordinator, Coordinating Committee member and former State Minister for ICT, and Hon. Martin Mugarra, NRM District Chairperson and former State Minister for Tourism. Area Members of Parliament and other district leaders also attended.
The gathering formally introduced the endorsement exercise in Ntoroko, providing a platform for local coordinators and leaders to organise signature collection within the district.
Speaking during the occasion, Basaliza described the participation of leaders and residents as a reflection of unity and patriotism. He also reiterated PLU’s national target of collecting 20 million endorsement signatures for Gen. Kainerugaba’s proposed 2031 presidential bid.
The Deputy Director of Mobilisation called upon leaders, district coordinators and mobilisers across the country to participate in the exercise and coordinate activities within their respective areas.
The Ntoroko launch forms part of the ongoing nationwide endorsement exercise, with PLU structures undertaking similar activities in different districts and sub-regions.
With the district exercise now launched, attention turns to the local coordinators responsible for organising signature collection across Ntoroko’s communities.
