NAGURU — PLU National Vice Chairman for Western Uganda and Minister of Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, today led a delegation of Members of Parliament and coordinators from the Bunyoro Sub-region to the PLU Secretariat in Naguru as the region stepped up its participation in the ongoing endorsement exercise for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The visit brought together Bunyoro leaders and PLU coordinators for discussions on the next phase of mobilisation across the sub-region, with particular focus on taking the endorsement exercise deeper into districts, constituencies and sub-counties.
During the engagement, the Bunyoro delegation received endorsement books that will be distributed through the PLU structures across the sub-region, giving coordinators a common framework for organising and recording participation at grassroots level.
Hon. Balaam, who also serves as PLU’s senior political lead for Western Uganda, reaffirmed his support for Gen. Kainerugaba’s future leadership. In his verified endorsement statement, he has previously said:
“I will proudly and unequivocally endorse Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to lead Uganda into the next chapter after President Museveni retires”
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Bunyoro coordinators to align their mobilisation work and strengthen coordination across Buliisa, Hoima, Hoima City, Kagadi, Kakumiro, Kibaale, Kikuube, Kiryandongo and Masindi.

Bunyoro has in recent weeks continued to expand its PLU grassroots activity. Leaders in parts of the sub-region have been holding mobilisation and endorsement engagements, while district coordinators have continued organising structures at community level. In Buliisa, local leaders recently took part in an endorsement exercise, while PLU teams in Masindi have also been strengthening grassroots organisation.
The endorsement books collected today are expected to support that next phase of activity, with coordinators taking the exercise closer to communities throughout the sub-region.
The Bunyoro engagement forms part of the wider nationwide endorsement programme currently being coordinated through the PLU Secretariat. Similar activities have recently taken place in other sub-regions as PLU structures continue to organise endorsement exercises around the country.
For the Bunyoro team, today’s meeting at the Secretariat marked both an endorsement by regional leaders and a coordination session aimed at ensuring the exercise is organised consistently across the sub-region.
