Full statement

I welcome the Patriotic League of Uganda’s continued emphasis on national unity, disciplined service and constructive participation in the life of our country. Uganda’s progress depends on citizens who are prepared to place the common good above division and who turn patriotism into practical service in their homes, workplaces and communities.

Our country has a great deal to gain when young people, women, professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders are encouraged to play a responsible role in national development. Civic participation should be guided by respect for the Constitution, a commitment to peaceful dialogue and the confidence that every Ugandan has something meaningful to contribute.

The values of integrity, accountability and service must remain at the centre of leadership. We should continue to reject corruption, protect public resources and support initiatives that create opportunity, strengthen livelihoods and improve the quality of life for families across Uganda.

I encourage citizens to engage positively in the work of building a united, prosperous and self-reliant nation. By acting with discipline, respecting one another and putting Uganda first, we can help secure a future in which national progress is shared widely and responsibly.
