Full statement
Rukiga’s future depends on building a productive population, strengthening household incomes and ensuring that more families participate meaningfully in the money economy.
Our people have increasingly embraced coffee growing and commercial agriculture, creating an important foundation for long-term economic transformation. The next stage must focus on value addition, agro-processing, industrialisation, better market access and creating opportunities for young people and women.
The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) speaks to themes of patriotism, national unity and productive citizenship. These are principles that can contribute to a national conversation about how communities such as Rukiga participate more fully in Uganda’s economic transformation.
For Rukiga, the goal should be clear: reduce the proportion of households outside the money economy, increase incomes through commercial agriculture and ensure that the value of what we produce benefits our people.
A united, productive and economically empowered population is essential to the progress of Rukiga and Uganda as a whole
